I’ve worked with the owner of Reel King, Travis, since 2013 with him and his wife’s other business: RippnFinish. For Reel King, Travis was launching a brand to legitimize the video content creation work he’d been doing for years and position himself for growth and a marketing push.
Even though I’ve known Travis for years, and am very familiar with his happy personality and bold style and ideas, we still went through a condensed brand strategy process before I started designing the visual identity. During the Q/A sessions, his answer to ‘If your brand was an animal, what animal would it be and why?’ was: ‘A peacock, check me out I’m so exotic and everybody wants to see me dance.’, inspired the character (named Eric) that played a central role in the identity.
Considering the stage of business Reel King was in, we decided to build a one-page custom website (versus a multi-page website) integrated with WordPress for him to easily manage content. While the website is small, it helps Travis position himself, tell his story, showcase some of his work, and explain his project process.
